General, Colorectal, Minimally Invasive Surgeon and Endoscopist Dr Ken Buxey is a General Surgeon with advanced subspecialty training in colorectal surgery and a private practice with an emphasis on endoscopy, colorectal surgery and hernia surgery. He initially completed his medical degree at The University of Melbourne with First Class Honours. He then completed his residency and specialist training in general surgery through Alfred Health in Melbourne and then completed further advanced training in Sydney and Melbourne through the CSSANZ in colorectal surgery. During this time, he was also the ASCRS International Colorectal Fellowship recipient and spent time in New York and Cleveland in the USA.
His main interest areas include minimally invasive surgery, endoscopy including complex colonoscopy and abdominal wall reconstruction (complex hernia). He is happy to discuss any general surgical issue be it an emergency or elective surgical problem.
He has regular consulting at his clinic in Ringwood and also at Holmesglen Private Hospital. He works at Alfred Health in the public hospital system, operating and offering a public outpatient clinic at Sandringham Hospital. He is appointed to the complex abdominal wall service at The Alfred and is one of very few Surgeons who can offer care for all hernia patients including those with high complexity in both the private and public systems. He can offer private care at Ringwood Private Hospital, Knox Private Hospital, Holmesglen Private Hospital and Linacre Private Hospital.
Away from work he is married to Alyson a GP and a father of 4 young boys.
